LaSoft partnered with SquadUp to build a web-based platform that enables consultants, managers, and collaborators to assess and track team skills, generate personalized development recommendations, and visualize strengths and gaps via interactive dashboards. The solution offers an opportunity to enhance your team's skills through practical tasks and training.

  • Client & Product

SquadUp platform was designed and developed to enable companies to map individual and team-level competencies. Data visualization dashboards display the skills of a given team using several chart types. The insights generated from this mapping allow decision-makers to make informed choices about training paths, organizational structure, recruitment needs, and process optimizations.

The platform is supported by expert human analysis, where assessment outcomes are translated into clear, strategic recommendations, ensuring that talent development aligns with long-term business objectives.

    Project Deliverables
  • Project Deliverables

The partnership between LaSoft and SquadUp transformed a manual solution into a scalable platform that redefines employees' assessment for HR managers.

    Project Deliverables
    • Digital assessment platform

The LaSoft team transformed the client's semi-automatic method skill assessment methodology into a scalable, interactive digital dashboard. The platform visualizes the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and risks (SWOT) of team and individual performance.

    • Advanced role-based system architecture

We implemented a multi-role access system to support multiple user types: super admins, consultants, team leads, managers, and employees. Depending on the role, each user role has specific permissions and data visibility across dashboards and project elements.

    • Real-time data visualization dashboard

We offered a data visualization solution that processes input points and presents them through dynamic charts and user-friendly interfaces.s

    • Admin & consultant management panels

Custom-built admin and consultant dashboards allow for user management, company onboarding, domain structuring, team hierarchies, and ongoing system configuration.

    • Expertise structure tools

An intuitive interface allowed clients to define their organizational structure, link teams, and assign consultants or roles across complex company hierarchies.

    • CMS & resource management

A CMS module enables consultants and admins to upload, manage, and assign training materials, skill matrices, workshops, and evaluation tools per team or domain.

    • Automated client onboarding

LaSoft automated onboarding workflows, including registration and role assignment, allowing SquadUp to onboard multiple clients simultaneously with minimal manual effort.

    • Scalable infrastructure

The entire system architecture was designed to scale with the client's ambition of onboarding multiple teams and organizations across markets.

    • Security & authentication

We implemented secure authentication features, including password recovery, invitation links, user session control, and code-based verification, to protect sensitive HR data.

  • Our efforts and scope

After the discovery stage, we proceeded with iterative development using agile sprints. We provided end-to-end delivery from business analysis and UI/UX design to backend logic, integrations, and front-end implementation. We ensured that our ongoing collaboration with the SquadUp product owner aligned development sprints with changing needs and requirements.

    • Technical exploration

      Technical exploration

We analyzed the client’s existing skill assessment processes and technical constraints.

    • Prototype design

      Prototype design

Our design team created interactive wireframes and low-fidelity prototypes to visualize how users would interact with the platform.

    • Validation

      Validation

We validated the functional and business logic of the proposed solution before full-scale development.

We applied agile methodology throughout the process, breaking development into 2-week sprints.

    • Release

      Release

Once the core system was stable, we launched the first full version of the platform.

  • Challenges during the development process

The HR-focused skills assessment and visualization platform development presented several unique technical and organizational challenges that the LaSoft team successfully navigated.

    Challenges during the development process
    • Automation

Initially, the SquadUp system relied heavily on manual data capture from Miro to Excel, a time-consuming, error-prone, and unscalable process. Automating workflows while preserving data accuracy was a key priority, requiring our engineers to create reliable pipelines and robust validation logic to eliminate human errors.

    • Complex user roles and permissions

SquadUp required a highly structured user role system, including super administrators, super consultants, managers, collaborators, and clients, each with specific access rights and interface views. We implemented a scalable role-based access control model across the dashboard.

    • Modular and scalable architecture

Since SquadUp was envisioned to grow into a SaaS model capable of supporting multiple consulting organizations, LaSoft had to architect a modular system with extensibility in mind. The task included designing reusable components, scalable APIs, and database structures to support the possible future onboarding of new clients and expanded features.

    • UX/UI complexity and gamification

Delivering an engaging experience for end users was a critical requirement, including the gamified skill assessment with visual rating scales and profile avatars. Ensuring the UI remained intuitive and responsive while incorporating game mechanics required close coordination between our designers and front-end developers.

  • Implemented features

    Implemented features
    • User authentication and access control

The platform includes secure user registration, login, and logout functionality. Role-based access management ensures that admins, managers, and employees have access only to features relevant to their roles.

    • Dashboard for skill mapping visualization

Our software engineers implemented a dynamic dashboard ("The dash") to visually represent team members' skills using multiple chart types, including radar charts and stacked bar charts. The dashboard reflects the team's strengths, skill gaps, and areas of opportunity.

    • Skill management module

Users can input and update their skills, proficiency levels, and professional experiences. Admins can define core competencies and assign relevant skills for visualization and analysis.

    • Survey and assessment engine

We implemented a customizable survey system to collect data on employees' self-evaluated skills and external evaluations. This data feeds directly into the dashboard visualizations.

    • Automated report generation

Based on skill mapping data, the system generates insights. It highlights critical areas, such as training needs, high-performing skill clusters, and potential recruitment gaps, allowing human analysts to make further recommendations.

    • Admin control panel

Admins have an intuitive interface to manage teams, create new surveys, monitor user activity, and maintain the platform's settings and configurations.

    • Analysis tools

Features include identifying skill risk areas, mapping opportunities, and visual comparing actual and required competencies.

    • Export and sharing

Users and admins can export data on team skills for reporting purposes, including PDF export options and potential integrations with external tools.

    • Training module

Processing and distribution of requests for training. Organization of events for training and their analysis.

  • Product development outcomes

The collaboration between LaSoft and SquadUp resulted in a fully functional, scalable, and user-friendly skills assessment platform that covers the problematic process of how HR departments and consultants evaluate team members' potential and level of expert skills.

SquadUp began as a manual and fragmented project that evolved into an automated, data-driven SaaS solution that helps elevate teams to a new level of proficiency, defining their growth areas. The platform empowers companies to map, measure, and improve workforce potential accurately and clearly.

LaSoft’s dedicated team ensured the infrastructure could scale seamlessly as SquadUp would expand its reach across clients and industries. With its secure, modular architecture and multi-role access control system, the platform is well-positioned to support enterprise-grade HR consulting.
