In countries where the virus hasn\u2019t caused as much damage \u2014 usually where government policies and health and social policies have been more effective \u2014 the economic consequences haven\u2019t been as damaging. Developing countries and regions are going to take longer to recover from this.<\/p>\n

Globally, IMF figures show that there was a 3.5% output contraction in 2020. If the pandemic hadn\u2019t happened, then the IMF was projecting 3.4% annual growth last year, which represents a total loss of -7% of the world\u2019s economy.<\/p>\n

Not only that, but when everything is factored in \u2014 job loss, business going under, loss of life, psychological impact \u2014 and numerous other issues, the IMF estimates that the \u201ccost of the pandemic, roughly equal to 100% of global GDP in 2019, should be regarded as a fairly conservative lower bound.\u201d<\/p>\n

So when we think of that on a smaller scale, such as a company needing an app developed, we can be forgiven for wondering why some clients can\u2019t afford pre-pandemic budgets. In which case, it\u2019s helpful to understand ways apps can be developed more cost effectively.<\/p>\n
